 | History
Calvary Baptist Church was established in 1959 and is a Southern Baptist Church that is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention. The current worship center and family life building were completed in 1982. Our goal as a church is to show God's love to the community of Lilburn and Gwinnett county by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and by making strong disciples for His Kingdom.
Parking
The church has entrances from both Lawrenceville Hwy (Hwy29) and Harbins Rd. General parking is found around both entrances. For families with children, pull around to the rear of the campus to our Kid's Zone children's building (you will see our playground and tee-ball field) and park there for your convenience. Those with disabilities can park in our designated handicap parking found on the upper tier of our lot closest to the sanctuary entrance. (Location)
Child Care
Free child care is provided during all of our services. Parents can sign in and drop off their children in our Kid's Zone nursery located in our children's building at the rear of our campus. New mothers are welcome to bring their infants into the service and should they need to step out, we have comfortable seating and televisions broadcasting our services in the atrium.
Dress
We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable at Calvary. We believe that true worship depends on the heart, not the clothes. So we encourage you to dress the way you feel most comfortable for worshiping the Lord. Some of our members like to dress in their "Sunday best" while others may wear jeans and tee shirts. Take a look at our Staff page to see how they may look on any typical Sunday. Whether your tastes run toward traditional, business casual, prep or relaxed, we want you to feel welcome to worship God with us at Calvary.
Music and Preaching Style
At Calvary we want to celebrate the diversity that is found in Lilburn and Gwinnett County. Because of this, we intentionally strive to make our music style very eclectic and diverse. On any given Sunday we might include a variety of styles such as contemporary praise, classical, traditional hymns, southern gospel, bluegrass, R&B, and folk. Our goal is to have at least one portion of every service fit the natural style of each person here. We also hope to expand each persons understanding and appreciation of worship by participating in and witnessing other forms of expression. Our only prerequisite for music is that it glorifies Our Lord Jesus Christ. The congregation is led musically by our band, praise team, and choir.
Our messages are expository in nature and exclusively from the Bible. We believe in the Bible as God's Word and that it has authority to govern every aspect of our lives. We also believe that God's timeless truths and principles are relevant today for all hearers, so messages are designed to teach the Bible and allow it to speak into the lives of our worshippers.
Giving
Calvary is supported by the tithes and offerings of its members. As a guest, you are not expected to give. We simply appreciate your attendance and participation with us in worship.
